Paige Parkerson of Beaumont, Texas has been charged with first-degree felony murder for allegedly stabbing her children’s father over a cheap Mother’s Day gift, the Houston Chronicle reports.

The father, Clifton “JR” Barkin, was dropped off at home around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night by his mother, Evetta Wright, after she drove him to a local Wal-Mart to purchase flowers and a Mother’s Day card for Parkerson.

But on Monday morning, Wright says she got a phone call from Parkerson saying that she had killed her son. The Houston Chronicle has more:
“Paige told me she killed JR, that he was dead,” Wright said through sobs.
