Sandra Layne, a 74-year-old grandmother from West Bloomfield, Michigan is accused of shooting her 17-year-old grandson, Jonathan Hoffman, to death on May 18, Fox 2 News Detroit reports.
Layne was “bound over for trial on charges of open murder and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony” during a preliminary hearing on Monday, according to the Detroit Free Press.

The former school teacher fired her Glock ten times during the incident. Five of those shots hit Hoffman at close range, with three hitting the teen in the chest, one in the arm and another in his stomach. As cops arrived at Layne’s condo, they reportedly heard shots being fired.

“I had told her to keep her hands up. As she was walking out of the house with her hands up, she had advised me and screamed to me that ‘I murdered my grandson,’” said West Bloomfield Officer Derrick Kassab.
