A pregnant woman was transported to a local hospital Thursday night after being struck by a marked police cruiser driven by an off-duty Prince George’s County officer.

According to the police report, the woman stepped in front of the off-duty officers marked cruiser wearing dark clothing, and she was not in a crosswalk. Police spokesperson, Cpl. Copeland said the officer swerved to try to avoid hitting the woman.

The woman had minor injuries but was taken to the hospital for observation because she is pregnant, Prince George’s County police said. The accident occurred at 8:37 p.m. in the intersection of Glassmanor Drive and Kennebec Street.
