With the advent of spring, golfers, with the anticipation and excitement of Memorial Day many will be taking to the green. And one of the upcoming golf tournaments will be the 2nd Annual Tri-County Golf Classic on Friday, May 28 at the National Golf Club at Tantallon in Fort Washington.

Sponsoring this day-long golf tournament is People’s Choice Charities, the non-profit affiliate of People’s Choice Global, LLC based in Prince George’s County. As an advocate for kidney disease research, People’s Choice Charities will share the proceeds with the National Kidney Foundation serving the National Capital Area and the American Kidney Fund.

There are 26 million Americans with Chronic Kidney Disease and every month, the number of minority Americans waiting for kidney transplants increases. Many residents in Prince George’s, Montgomery, and Calvert Counties are becoming dialysis patients every day. The Tri-County Golf Classic, raises vital funds for The American Kidney Fund and The National Kidney Foundation to support ongoing work in medical research, patient services, public and professional education, organ donation awareness, and prevention initiatives.

Olivia Fox, radio personality for Majic 102.3, and Board Member of People’s Choice Charities, has been undergoing dialysis treatment since 2007. “I am one of the 6,000 local dialysis patients. I also represent the 1,600 patients waiting for a life-saving kidney transplant in the DC area,” said Fox.

Gloria Brooks, Founder and President of People’s Choice Charities, Inc., said “As a kidney donor to a sibling in 2000, I fully understand and appreciate those who live with this health challenge and especially those who are living donors. And at our Golf Classic, we want to give special meaning and purpose to a day for those who love the game of golf to come, compete, and enjoy a fun-filled day. We think the National Golf Club at Tantallon, an 18-hole course designed in l965 by famed course designer Ted Robinson, provides an ideal setting for our Golf Classic.”
