DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Victim to Victory

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence 1 in every 4 women will experience the trauma of a violent partner at some point in their lifetime. Sadly, abuse is also occurring among men, though reported less frequently. Every Sunday- EZ Street presents the radio talk show TRENDING WITH EZ on WOL 1450 a.m. from 4 pm to 5 pm EST.

This Sunday October 23, 2011, the panel will openly share the definition and variations of abuse, the warning signs, and resources for those who need help fleeing their situations. Relevant questions will be posed to offer solutions that will contribute to the gradual remedy of the very urgent epidemic.

The dialogue will serve as a catalyst for the audience to begin understanding and practicing effective coping skills, behavior modification strategies among children, what real love “looks” like, teens and adults as well as identifying appropriate communication within relationships.

Special guests will include: Heather Powers of WEAVE, Carolyn Washington, Founder/Executive Director of Sisters4Sisters –a leader in Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness in the DC Metropolitan Area.

There are men experiencing domestic violence as well but it are much less reported than women; therefore, men often are neglected in the service delivery but can listen in to find out ways to overcome by listening.
