Don't miss Wale and Ginuwine at the 11th Annual Prince George's Harlem Renaissance Festival!

Landover, MD — The 11th Annual Prince George’s Harlem Renaissance Festival will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010, on the grounds of the Columbia Park/Kentland Community Center, 2411 Pinebrook Avenue, Landover, MD.

This year the festival will have two (2) celebrity artists performing for a crowd of nearly 10,000 participants. “We are excited to be able to bring two of Prince George’s County’s finest recording artists back home to the Harlem Renaissance Festival,” says David Harrington, Festival Chairman. R&B artist, GINUWINE is a graduate of Prince George’s Community College and Forestville High School (now Forestville Military Academy). One of the rap community’s newest sensations, Wale, has called Prince George’s County, Maryland home since 1993.

“The Harlem Remembrance Foundation (HRF) is proud and excited to be able to bring two of our own to the stage at the Harlem Renaissance Festival as our ‘Celebrity Guest Artists.’ It’s a wonderful and special feeling,” says, Ms. Dorothy Bailey, Chairman and Founder of HRF.

GINUWINE and Wale’s involvement in this year’s festival underscores our theme, ‘Service…The Soul of Our Nation.’ “They are both coming home and sharing their talents with their community, family and friends,” said Carolyn Mills-Matthews, of The CAMMAY Group, HRF event consultants.

“Service…The Soul of Our Nation” pays tribute to the work, commitment, dedication and loyalty African Americans made to their country and their community during the 1920s through 1940s as well as today. The Festival will also feature stimulating discussions and exhibits that illustrate this theme throughout the day.

Wale will be performing on the main stage of the Harlem Renaissance Festival at 2 p.m. and “GINUWINE” will perform at 6 p.m. The festival is from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Festival goers can enjoy live performances of music and dance on three outdoor stages, as well as spoken word performances, kids’ activities, craft and food vendors and more. Lawn chairs are encouraged for this day-long, family friendly festival.

The Harlem Renaissance Festival is supported through its generous sponsors and its collaborative partners. Major sponsors include: The Washington Post, Radio One, Pepco, and DC-TV50. Collaborative partners include: The Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George’s County Public Schools, Prince George’s Department of Family Services, The Prince George’s Memorial Library System, The Prince George’s County Fire Department, Ivy Community Charities – AKA Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, CTV-76, The Prince George’s Community College, Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), and Leadership Prince George’s. The Harlem Remembrance Foundation is grateful to our sponsors and collaborative partners for their efforts to assist in bringing this Festival to the County.
