Teacher Cuts Off Student’s Braid In Front Of Class

Lamya Cammon is angry, confused, and scared by the incident last week in which the apparently frustrated teacher cut one of her braids off after she wouldn’t stop playing with them in class.

Cammon, 7, sports a few dozen braids, but one is conspicuously absent.

“She told me to stop playing with it. Then cut it off and sent me back to my desk,” Cammon said.

Cammon’s a first-grader at Congress Elementary and said her teacher used a pair of classroom scissors to cut off one of the braids after she absent-mindedly kept playing with them.

    This teacher MUST be looking to be FIRED! I can’t believe with what, 25-30 children in a classroom, she would do such a thing. But after watching the video, I can understand WHY she got upset! With the young girl playing with her hair and those BEADS knocking, I can certainly understand the irritation!

    What she should have done was CALL her mother, to pick up her child, and not to send her back to school with those beads in her hair, as they were DISTURBING the classroom and INTERFERED with EDUCATING the classroom.

    It’s why I believe there should be STANDARDS for schools! Implement UNIFORMS, and Attire, this way, it will keep other kids from being envious or jealous because they don’t have clothes and/or tennis shoes other kids have, they can’t afford. I feel it will take the PRESSURE of the Parents, trying to keep up with the Jone’s! I also believe the children will be MORE attentive in class, and less focus on what other kids are wearing or what they have.

    The Teacher was COMPLETELY out of line, and if she’s this frustrated, she should look for ANOTHER PROFESSION, for all she had to do was dismiss that child from the classroom and CALL her MOTHER!

    No teacher should take DRASTIC MEASURES such as this, to get children’s attention, after 2-3 WARNINGS, your little butt is OUT OF MY CLASS, and MADE to STAY HOME until she learns to LISTEN to the Techer!

    In addition, parent’s need to STOP putting all those noisey trinkets in their children’s hair when sending them to school! Who knows, perhaps the noise from those items, distracts the children from paying attention in class.
