Deal Announced To Reduce Treatment Cost For HIV/AIDS
The William J. Clinton Foundation and two drug manufacturers have announced plans to reduce the cost of HIV/AIDS treatments for developing nations. Former President Bill Clinton has announced drugmakers Pfizer and Matrix Labs will substantially reduce the cost of four, second-line antiretroviral therapies. The price cuts will save a combined 400-million dollars over the next five years. Another drug used to fight tuberculosis in HIV/AIDS sufferers will be reduced in price to one dollar per dose. The drugs will be made available in developing nations through the William J. Clinton Foundation.
