A dynamic veteran sports journalist and broadcaster, with over 15 years in the broadcast industry, Mark Gray is in his second decade of bringing the “Groove” to American sports via radio, internet, print, and television coverage.  Mark is an award winning sportswriter who was also known as “The Scribe” when he first broke into the world sports radio.   Mark’s signature reporting style is energetic with a distinct perspective that is uncommon in conventional media.

Gray is recognized as a formidable talent and local celebrity.  Currently, Mark is a radio personality and sportscaster for Washington, DC based Radio One.  He hosts The Sports Groove, aired weeknights, Monday thru Friday, from 7-10 pm on WOL-AM (1450) in Washington, D.C. WOLB-AM (1010) in Baltimore, Maryland and online at www.wolam.com.  Mark is also co-host of The Red Zone for www.myfoxdc.com, an NFL show that won an Edward R. Murrow Award for the website of the DC Fox TV affiliate WTTG.

Gray is a former talk show host for ESPN Radio, where he hosted the debut for the network’s weekday version of Game Day with former Major League pitcher Rob Dibble.  He also co-hosted the network’s popular prime time show, Game Night and later developed the popular weekend version of their overnight program, The Weekend Sports Groove.   Mark was also the former host for the weekend show MLB Live on XM Radio’s MLB Home Plate (channel 175).

Mark’s print sports journalism credits include: NBA Correspondent for The Sporting News, general sports correspondent for The Atlanta Journal and Constitution, sports editor for The Atlanta Daily World, and sports columnist for The Atlanta Tribune. In 1997, Gray was honored by the Atlanta Association of Black Journalists for producing “The Outstanding Feature Story in Print Journalism”.
Mark’s unmistakable candor is his calling card as a television broadcaster.  He has served as color analyst for college football and basketball games on MBC Cable Television Network, Comcast SportsNet, and Sunshine Network, in addition to handling sideline reporter duties.  He was also   television correspondent for the award winning America’s Black Forum.

In 2008, Gray launched the internet based SportsGroove TV that contributes to Black Athlete Sports Network, HoyaReport.com, I-95Ballerz.com, and the Heritage Sports Radio Network.
Mark is a 1990 Who’s Who graduate of Morgan State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications.  Prior to attending Morgan State University, he graduated from the Community College of Baltimore with an Associates degree in Mass Communications.
