Wife of the former neighborhood watchman who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, Shellie Zimmerman, has been arrested on perjury charges. Zimmerman is being accused of lying to a judge about her and her husband’s finances during his bond hearing. Msnbc.com reported earlier:
Lester ordered Zimmerman to return to jail after information surfaced that Zimmerman allegedly conspired with his wife to hide $135,000 worth of donations made to his personal website.
“Had the court been made aware of the true financial circumstances at the bond hearing the bond decision might have been different,” said Lester in the document. “It is apparent that Shellie Zimmerman testified untruthfully at the bond hearing. The defendant also testified but did not alert the court to the misinformation.”
Zimmerman is facing one count of perjuryShe was placed in John E. Polk Correctional Facility and released on $1,000 bond according to officials.
