DC Police Ready “All Hands On Deck” Initiative

(Washington, DC) — They’re usually held on weekends, but DC police have kicked off another “All Hands on Deck” policing initiative, to coincide with National Night Out events. Police Chief Cathy Lanier says every available sworn officer will be on patrol through 6 a.m. tomorrow morning. Lanier also joined Mayor Adrian Fenty to announce a 12-million-dollar stimulus grant that was recently awarded to the department to expand community policing. This latest All Hands on Deck initiative marks the sixth phase of the operation so far this year.
