The investigation into Houston police chief Charles McClellands accident in which a pedestrian was hit has concluded.

The result is that he will enroll in a defensive driving class in November. He also agreed to a one-day suspension without pay.

“I’m going to hold myself to a higher accountability that any other police officer. I will be enrolling in defensive driving, as required by department policy, and also agreed and accepted a 1-day suspension without pay by Mayor Parker.”

The pedestrian suffered only minor injuries. Mcclelland insists he wasn’t distracted when the accident happened, and says he will be a more alert driver while behind the wheel, and now he’s urging officers to watch out for jaywalkers and erratic drivers.

McClelland says in a tweet that “I am the boss; I should take a bigger discipline that is why I am accepting this suspension.”
