(Washington, DC) — Today’s high temperatures are expected to approach triple digits without the help of any humidity, which will only make it feel even hotter outside. Your best bet to beat the heat is simple — stay inside and don’t try to fight it. But since not everyone has that option, DC Fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer says there are things you can do to keep the heat from becoming overwhelming. A heat advisory will be in effect from noon until 10 p.m. today. It’s also a Code Orange air quality day, which means some people, including small children and the elderly, could have trouble breathing if they spend too much time outdoors. Piringer says each day of a nasty heat wave sees more calls for help with heat-related illnesses than the day before.
