(Rockville, MD) — Police in Montgomery County say an assistant fire chief who caused a four-car accident last year was given no special treatment when officers decided against giving him a breathalyzer test afterward. Gregory DeHaven was an assistant fire chief at the time of the crash last November, and tests conducted later that night reportedly showed his blood-alcohol level at nearly twice the legal limit. That test was taken about three-hours after the crash. DeHaven denies being drunk at the time of the crash, even though he signed a report saying his BAC was more than .14. He was fired after the fire department conducted its own investigation into the matter earlier this year, though the results of that investigation have not been made public. Police say he had passed field sobriety tests conducted at the crash Scene.
