Although African-Americans make up just 13 percent of the U.S. population, we account for 33 percent of the missing in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s database. Cases involving African-Americans also tend to receive less media coverage than missing Whites, with missing men of color getting even less attention.
NewsOne has partnered with the Black and Missing Foundation to focus on the crisis of missing African-Americans.
To be a part of the solution, NewsOne will profile missing persons and provide tips about how to keep your loved ones safe and what to do if someone goes missing.

Circumstances of Disappearance: Jennings’ mother Angela Braxton said her son left his uncle’s house at about 8 p.m. on October 16 for a business meeting with a group of friends and associates. Jennings was known around Baltimore for his skills as a clothing stylist; the meeting was with a web designer and photographer about their latest project.
“That was his passion. He was always into clothing,” Braxton told NewsOne in an interview. “He’s pretty well-known in Baltimore and he is a good kid. Never in any trouble and I didn’t have any complaints.”
After the meeting, the group of friends went to a lounge to hang out and left around 11 p.m., said Braxton. Around 2 a.m., Braxton said her brother texted Jennings and asked when he would be home.
“At 2:19 a.m. my son texted: ‘I’m heading home,’” said Braxton.
It was the last time anyone heard from Jennings. A woman says she saw Jennings driving his car in the Windsor Mill section of Baltimore around that same time, but the sighting is unconfirmed.
Baltimore Police say he was last seen leaving a restaurant in Baltimore County at around 11 p.m. that night.
“He was always in contact with me, his friends and his family,” said Braxton. “He’s never done anything like this.”
Braxton, a police dispatcher, says the Baltimore Police Department is making a good effort to find her son. She said police have interviewed Jennings’ friends and are searching for others who may have information about her son’s whereabouts.
But the mystery of Jennings’ disappearance has left the entire family baffled.
“People don’t just fall off the face of the earth,” Braxton’s best friend Donna Williams told NewsOne. “We feel someone knows something.”
Braxton said it’s been difficult without her son.
“That’s my only child. I’m devastated,” she said before bursting into tears.
After composing herself, Braxton said she has a simple message for her son: “We love you very much. Please come home.”
Last Seen Wearing: Jennings was last seen wearing a dark-colored baseball cap, gray coat, dark-colored shorts, white socks, and red sneakers.
