A portion of the grandstand at Pimlico Race Course will not be used during the 144th running of the Preakness in May.
The Maryland Jockey Club released a statement Saturday citing a recent Maryland Stadium Authority study about the state of Pimlico Race Course.
Officials say the Maryland Jockey Club made the decision to close the section of the grandstand for the Preakness Stakes this year as a safety and security measure for all guests and employees.
