NFL Reporter Dianna Russini of ESPN joins The Kevin Sheehan Show to discuss the Washington Football Team, Josh Norman & Ron Rivera.

ON THE CHANCE THAT RON RIVERA AND THE Washington Football Team BRING BACK JOSH NORMAN ON A MORE TEAM FRIENDLY DEAL:

“They (Josh Norman & Ron Rivera) have a very good relationship and Josh has always respected Ron. I do think this is a business decision, I don’t see Josh coming back obviously to Washington because of that. I know that the logistics  f how this went down in terms of moving on from Josh was Ron wanted to at least have a conversation with him. You know this from covering the NFL, sometimes it’s cold, sometimes you just get a message from somebody with the organization that just lets you know. It’s not always a conversation with a head coach or a GM telling you their moving on, it can get sloppy and I know it was important for Rivera to make sure he was involved in letting Josh Norman know that. It makes sense when you see the business reasons why they’re doing it, again nobody is shocked by this.”

ON WHAT THE MARKET WILL BE FOR JOSH NORMAN AND IF THERE IS A MEANINGFUL MARKET FOR HIM:

“I don’t actually…which is why I am interested in seeing where he winds up. I think with players like Josh with as much as we’ve seen him struggle over the past few seasons; he’s put together a good body of work that I could see some teams willing to just maybe take him on for a short deal. I don’t it being a robust market, and I don’t see him winding up back in Washington.”

ON THE IDEA THAT THE Washington Football Team OUT KICKED THEIR COVERAGE IN HIRING RON RIVERA:

“I disagree with at sentiment of out kicking their (the Washington Football Team) coverage with Ron Rivera. I think it’s a great hire, yes. I think everyone just needs to slow down here and let’s see what Coach (Rivera) can put together in free agency and this draft to make this better. I see why everyone is positive about it, because Rivera is such a good a guy and has done a nice job in Carolina, he got a little taste of some Super Bowl action, but I just think everyone needs to let this play out before we anoint Ron as being just this amazing person who came in and is going to be the best coach ever in Washington.  But I also get it thought, I get all the people saying ‘Washington finally got a guy that knows what to do, this, this and that,’ but let’s see what decisions he makes because it’s not an easy organization to work for, we’ve seen it. Washington has had amazing coaches in their building, we’ve had Kyle Shanahan, Sean McVay and Matt LaFluer, you could argue Mike Shanahan…there’s so many. So let’s see what he’ll put together here and see what the plan is before we can say Dan Snyder should be so lucky he has somebody like Ron Rivera.”
