VIA MYFOXDC:

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. – The first day of class for hundreds and possibly thousands of public high school students throughout Prince George’s County was anything but smooth Monday.

A computer scheduling snafu left many students with no class schedule, others with partial schedules and some with two classes at the same time.

Dr. William Hite, Jr., the Superintendent of Schools, said a new computer program is being used to schedule students and something went wrong.

“It’s a combination of an IT problem and a combination of individuals learning the new system,” Dr. Hite told FOX 5’s Will Thomas.

Myfoxdc.com received several complaints from parents who said their children were corralled into auditoriums for hours and received few updates about how to proceed. Keisha Davis is one of those Suitland parents.

“My daughter called from the auditorium and told me she had no class schedule! She’s an honor role student and missed the first day of class. I made call after call and couldn’t get any answers. This is unacceptable,” Davis said Monday night.
