Gonzaga true freshman Jalen Suggs has declared for the NBA Draft, according to several reports.
The former McDonald’s All-American announced he was turning pro Monday afternoon on ESPN’s The Jump from his hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“I’m super excited. I can’t wait to take this next step in my journey. I’m ready to get going,” Suggs said.
Gonzaga’s star opts out for the draft as a projected top-five pick. He’s currently third on ESPN’s top 100 players.
Suggs averaged 14.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in the 2020-21 season, helping the Bulldogs advance to their second National Championship appearance in school history. Gonzaga finished with a 31-1 record and tried to become the first school to go undefeated with a title since 1976.
Suggs also provided one of the most memorable moments in recent March Madness history. A halfcourt game-winning buzzer-beater in overtime against UCLA to clinch a spot in the National Championship.
