The suspect in Saturday’s mass shooting in Tucson will have an initial appearance in federal court in Phoenix today.  The Justice Department says Jared Loughner [[ LAHFF-nur ]] will appear before a federal magistrate in U.S. District Court at 2 p.m. Mountain Time.  Loughner faces five felony counts, including one count of attempted assassination of a member of Congress, two counts of killing an officer of the United States, and two counts of attempted killing of an officer of the United States.  Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot through the head and remains in critical condition.  Federal judge John Roll was one of six people killed.  Fourteen others were injured.
