For the third consecutive year, “Education Week” has ranked Maryland’s public education system as the best in the nation. Maryland schools have received an overall grade of B-plus from the news outlet which measured student achievement, school finance and education policies. New York and Massachusetts were ranked second and third with B grades and Virginia placed fourth with a B-minus. Schools in the District of Columbia ranked near the bottom of the list with a grade of D-plus, coming in just ahead of last-place Nebraska.
