Maryland Teacher Accused Of Assaulting Students

(Rockville, MD)  –A Maryland Public School teacher is under arrest on charges she assaulted some of her students  .  A Montgomery County police spokesman says 35-year-old Susan Burke of Laurel faces nine counts of second-degree assault.  Her victims were said to be six and seven-year-old students in the first grade.  Burke teaches at Greencastle Elementary School in Silver Spring.  The teacher is accused of choking nine of her students.  School officials say she was placed on administrative leave on January 4th when allegations surfaced.
