A new AARP survey of District of Columbia residents who are 50 or older reflects a population that dreams of leisure pursuits, traveling, and spending time with family in retirement. However, older adults don’t have what they need to accomplish their most important goals, due to growing concerns over health care and economic issues.

Over 400 District of Columbia residents were surveyed in January as part of a national AARP research effort to better gather information on the needs, interests, and concerns of Americans age 50 and over.
