(Washington, DC) — DC is looking for a new chairman of the city’s taxicab commission. Earlier this week Leon Swain was fired after almost four years on the job. Swain says he wasn’t really given a reason, but tells the “Post” he thinks it has to do with politics. More specifically, he says it was a payoff to cab owners upset about a federal bribery investigation. Swain tells the “Post” some DC cabbies straight up told him they demanded Mayor Vincent Gray fire him as a condition for their support of him during last year’s campaign. One cab driver even says the firing of Swain is one of three promises Gray made to cab drivers.
