(Rockville, MD) — The Montgomery County Council will consider a grant that would allow for the purchase of computer software and hardware to track the locations of patients transported to area hospitals from the scene of an accident. Using hand-held technology, the system would be used to distribute patients to the most available hospitals in a mass casualty incident. The 237-thousand dollars for the Urban Area Security Initiative Patient Tracking program would be provided through a federal grant. A public hearing is scheduled for May 17th.
