(Sterling, VA) — A flash flood watch is in effect for the DC area from this afternoon until late tonight. The National Weather Service says a weak cold front will move into very moist and humid air resulting in a large number of thunderstorms. Rainfall rates are expected to exceed more than two inches an hour. Forecasters say several storms potentially could track across the same area, causing flash flooding.
