(Landover, MD) — Local governments are getting ready to open cooling centers as forecasters continue to call for heat index values well over 100 degrees later this week. Prince George’s County will open four cooling facilities to the general public in Laurel, Chillum, Landover and Hillcrest Heights. Two other cooling centers will be available for seniors in Lanham and Camp Springs. First responders have been put on alert for an increase in heat-related calls.
