(Annapolis, MD)  —  Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley says he plans to sign the just passed same-sex marriage bill into law on Thursday.  That’s when Maryland will officially join seven other states and the District of Columbia in having such a law on the books.  Meanwhile, opponents of the legislation are already organizing efforts to put the issue on the November ballot.  Since the law does not take effect until next January, it would have to survive a possible voter referendum first.
