Condoleeza was the first African American woman to serve as the United States Secretary of State. She held that position from 2005-2009. She was also the first African American to serve as the United States National Security Advisor. This was during the George W. Bush presidency.

Barack Obama

Barack became the fifth African American to serve in the United States Senate on January 3, 2005. However, he became the 44th President of the United States and the first African American to be elected to the Presidency on November 4, 2008. He was reelected in 2012.
