Washington, DC To Celebrate “National Train Day”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Saturday, May 11, Washington, D.C., will join communities across America to celebrate the importance of trains to their town at the sixth annual National Train Day. The free event will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Washington Union Station.
The annual event will also feature displays of Amtrak railcars, a Chuggington Kids Depot with train-themed kids’ activities based on the popular children’s animated television series on Disney Junior; an HO scale operating model train provided by Walthers featuring Amtrak equipment including an locomotive and passenger cars; a Train Day store and a booth with information on the Washington Union Station master plan.
More than 200 communities are expected to host events at local train stations, railroad museums and other locations commemorating this year’s theme “Trains Matter.”
