(Metro Networks)  –  The Prince George’s County Office of Emergency Management will be opening an Emergency Operations Center tonight as thousands of residents prepare for a water outage that could last several days.  The WSSC has announced that a section of pipe in a vital 54-inch concrete pipeline appears to be failing, and some southern parts of the county will be without water while repairs are being made.  The Emergency Operations Center will open at 11 p.m. to monitor the situation. Some of the communities expected to be affected are Morningside, Hillcrest Heights, Camp Springs, Forest Heights, Temple Hills, and Oxon Hill, including Joint Base Andrews and the National Harbor.

According to WJLA:

The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission is providing water to residents in the affected areas and the County has set-up three distribution points in the affected areas.

Residents will be limited to two gallons per person.

The distribution points will open from 12 p.m. through 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday and from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. every day until the water outage is over. Residents must bring their own containers.
