(Washington, DC) — It’s the dog days of summer for people who rely on Metro’s busiest rail line. Delays will persist on the Red line at least through the end of August, as workers replace track circuitry near the site of the worst accident in Metro’s history. Trains will single track every night between the Fort Totten and Takoma stations. Also, for the next two weekends, the Fort Totten station will be closed to trains. Shuttle service will be provided. While the exact cause of the deadly crash has not been determined, federal investigators believe the automatic train system played a role.
