UPDATE: 2 adjacent buildings have reportedly collapsed in the vicinity of the explosion.

A building explosion has been reported in New York City this morning. Police and fire official have arrived to heavy smoke and a partially collapsed building in Upper Manhattan. 11 minor injuries have been reported at this time.

According to ABC:

East Harlem residents reported hearing a large explosion in the six-story apartment building around 9:30 a.m.

Fire was reported in the building, and the structural integrity appeared to be compromised. Witnesses reported seeing what appeared to be at least a partial roof collapse.

Smoke poured from the top of the building, and huge amounts of debris littered the surrounding sidewalks and elevated tracks in the area.
