October 23 was declared Marion Barry Day at Radio One DC. Radio One Founder Dr. Cathy Hughes and her DC staff honored her dear friend for his many years of impeccable service to the people of Washington DC. DC’s Mayor For Life visited every Radio One DC station and the love poured in from around the world, including calls from Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson who dialed in from South Africa. Local dignitaries and business owners shared praises of how Marion Barry’s leadership shaped the District Of Columbia and changed so many lives for the better.
