This NBA season has been nothing short of amazing for point guard Stephen Curry. After being named the NBA’s most valuable player his team, the Golden State Warriors, has advanced to the NBA finals. They defeated the Houston Rockets Wednesday night with a 104-90 victory. The Warriors haven’t won a championship since 1975. “Why not us?” said Curry. “The Bay Area’s been waiting for 40 years. I think it’s time.” He finished the game with 26 points and eight rebounds. Curry and the Warriors will go on to face LeBron James and the Cavs in a highly anticipated NBA finals series. Read more.
Molestation Claims Against Michael Jackson Dropped
Over the course of his career, the late legendary singer Michael Jackson experienced a lot of turmoil related to molestation claims. Although Jackson has passed, the drama still continues. Choreographer Wade Robson, one of the people who claimed that he was molested by Jackson, can’t move forward with legal action because he waited too long to file a lawsuit. Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff ruled that his claims should be dismissed because they were untimely. Robson has flip-flopped on the allegations. In 2005, he claimed that he was never molested by Jackson and in 2013 he filed a lawsuit against the estate claiming that he was. Read more.
Reverse Racism Lawsuit at HBCU
The chancellor of North Carolina Central University is in hot water after being accused of spreading racism and misusing funds. Former NCCU faculty members Marianne Murphy and Frank Smith have filed lawsuits accusing Dean Wanda Lester of discriminating against them because they weren’t African American. They also are suing the UNC Board of Governors for not taking action. “We want to give power to people who’ve been treated unfairly regardless of their race,” said lawyer Nick Sanservino. “And in my years of practice…I’ve not seen too many cases with some of the facts involved here, in terms of the systemic issues.” Read more.
