Compton-bred rapper The Game is in hot water after getting into an altercation with an off-duty police officer during a game of basketball earlier this year. According to police officials, The Game, real name Jayceon Terrell Taylor, turned himself in yesterday in relation to the incident that occurred on March 29. During the pick-up game, Taylor allegedly punched the off-duty officer in the face. On Monday, he was taken into custody under suspicion of making criminal threats. He was released an hour later on $50,000 bail. The University of North Carolina Hit With NCAA Academic Violations

The University of North Carolina has come under fire by the NCAA for academic violations. According to a report, they were hit with five violations related to academic indiscretion involving student athletes and the university’s faculty. Some of the charges included allowing academic counselors to turn in papers for athletes and giving them credit for participating in irregular courses under the African and Afro-American studies department. “Everyone who loves Carolina is truly saddened by these allegations. … We aspire to and work toward meeting higher standards than the actions that warranted this notice. Our university and numerous outside groups have looked at every aspect of our academic and athletic life. As a result, Carolina has implemented scores of new processes and checks and balances that have undoubtedly made us a better university.
