Woman Sues Clinic For Nearly $10M Over The Loss Of Her “Future Children”

In 2013, Marisa Yukich had seven embryos extracted and frozen through IVF (In vitro fertilization) at ART Reproductive Center Inc. in Beverly Hills. Yukich claims she paid $500 to have her eggs stored between October 2014 and October 2015. She received a call in September 2015 that all seven of her viable pre-embryos had been destroyed. Yukich claims the clinic offered her $600 to rectify the situation. She is seeking $7 million in damages alleging a breach of contract and negligent infliction of emotional distress. “No amount of money will make this fully right,” said Yukich at a press conference. “My embryos cannot be replaced. This is nothing less than the loss of my future children.” If Yukich’s case goes to trial, it would be the first of it’s kind in the State of California. NBC LA

Pilot Accused Of Running Massive Prostitution Ring

Airline employees seem to be having the worst week ever. First Jetblue flight attendant, Marsha Gay Reynolds, is accused of being a drug mule, now United Airlines pilot, Bruce Wayne Wallis, is accused of running a prostitution ring. After a nearly two year investigation, 18 women have been arrested and charged with prostitution. Wallis, who also runs Eastex Aero flight school and charter service, forged paperwork so it could appear as if 10 of the prostitutes that were being paid approximately $400 per week were on payroll. Walllis, who advertised the services of his women online, has since been charged with aggravated promotion of prostitution and engaging in criminal activity. If convicted he faces up to 20 years in prison. Houston Chronicle 

Publication Vows To Revisit Wage Equality 

Will Lewis, chief executive of The Wall Street Journal’s parent company Dow Jones & Company, promises to review salary discrepancies between Caucasian men and women of color. A union that represents writers, the Newspaper Guild, recently published a report that chronicled the history of wage inequality over the last 25 years. In 1991, women made up 46 percent of the workforce and were paid about 24 percent less than men, on average. Now, women make up 47 percent of the union workforce, but they still earn 13.2 percent less than their colleagues. “Any pay disparity relating to an employee’s race or gender is troubling and inconsistent with the standards I strive to maintain at Dow Jones,” said Lewis in a statement. “We must, as a matter of urgency, address these issues head on” he added. Huffington Post

Two Civil Liberties Attorneys Kicked Out Of California Bar 

Brig, a dive bar in Fresno, CA allegedly racial profiled two African American customers. Attorneys Abre’ Conner and Novella Coleman, were next up to perform karaoke when a bartender told the pair that they had to purchase drinks in order to play. Coleman said that despite having already patronized the venue, a second bartender pressed himself up against Abre in an attempt to pressure her to buy a drink. The police were eventually called and the staff said they were exercising  their ‘right’ to refuse service”. In a blog about their experience the pair wrote, “This sounds too much like when the country still had ‘colored’ sections and racially segregated water fountains. But this happened in March 2016.” ACLU
