Not sure who approved these signs, but Republican National Convention (RNC) organizers are scrambling to replace signs labeling a bank of elevators the “White Elevators,” The New York Daily News reported.

On Saturday, Wall Street Journal reporter Byron Tau, who was attending the convention, Tweeted that he saw the signs at the Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena and that they were being taken down, “for obvious reasons.”

It’s unclear as to how or why the signs were posted in the first place. Perhaps, the elevators were separated by the colors of the American flag: Red, white and blue. Who knows? But obviously, this is somewhat reminiscent of the Jim Crow era where Blacks and whites were segregated with “Colored-Only” and “Whites-Only” signs. And given GOP Presidential candidate Donald Trump’s problematic comments about African-Americans, Latinos, Muslims Jewish people and women, not to mention his glowing support from white supremacists such as David Duke, believing this sign was extension of those racist (and sexist) beliefs isn’t that much of a stretch.

Just saying.

The RNC starts on Monday and runs through Thursday, where Republicans from around the nation are expected to come together and officially nominate Trump for president of the United States. Speakers include: Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and retired brain surgeon Ben Carson.

The convention will be very interesting to say the least.
