Death of Northwestern Basketball Player Jordan Hankins Ruled A Suicide

Jordan Hankins, a sophomore player for Northwestern’s women’s basketball team, was found dead in her dorm room on Monday. Officials have confirmed that the cause of death was suicide by hanging.

According to the Indianapolis Star, the medical examiner’s findings shocked the 19-year-old’s friends and family.

“We talked for the last time a week ago and everything seemed good,” her brother, Jared Hankins, told the Star. “She meant a lot to me. She was my role model.”

“Jordan was a remarkably dynamic young woman,” Wildcats coach Joe McKeown said in a statement on Monday.

“This is a devastating loss for our basketball family. She brought an unwavering intensity and commitment to everything in her life. We will miss her enormously.”

Northwestern’s game against Minnesota, scheduled for Wednesday, was postponed following Hankins’ death.

The Chicago Cubs plan on visiting President Obama at White House before he leaves for good.

According the Hill, the visit was reportedly fast-tracked so the president could meet with the 2016 World Series champs before leaving office, said Obama spokesman Josh Earnest. Their trip will take place four days before Donald Trump’s inauguration next Thursday.

While Obama is a White Sox fan, he was incredibly excited when the Cubs won their first World Series in 108 years and invited them himself during a phone call with manager Joe Maddon in November.

Golden Globe nominee Issa Rae had a lot to say about the President-elect while on the red carpet this past Sunday at the Globes. She encouraged others to not let Donald Trump get away with his bad behavior.

“Every single time I see a tweet from that man — every single time I see some of the staff and administration he’s bringing, it gets worse and worse. The scariest part is how normal it’s becoming to some people,”said the “Insecure” star.

“I think we just have to keep calling things out like, ‘No you’re lying! That’s not true! No, that doesn’t work that way!’ As long as we don’t continue to let him slide there might be some hope, but it’s scary.”
