The Washington Capitals are close to winning their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. One of the big reasons for the Caps dominance in the finals is because of the play of Left Winger Devante Smith-Pelly. Smith-Pelly, who is in his 7th year in the NHL and the Caps is his 4th team in his career.

Smith-Pelly finished with 16 points (seven goals, nine assists) while averaging 12:21 of ice time in 75 games for Washington.

Thought of as more of a grinder, Smith-Pelly has 2 goals in the Stanley Cup finals versus the Las Vegas Golden Knights. If the Caps win their first title which would be the first in the DMV since the Maryland Terrapins Women’s Basketball Team in 2006, the Canadian will become D.C.’s adopted son.
