Baltimore Police sergeant shot; witness says 2 men beat officer before opening fire

Two men were arrested in the shooting of a Baltimore City Police sergeant after a manhunt in SW Baltimore Friday.

No confirmation if they are official suspects in the case. He’s is in critical condition following surgery Friday.

City police sergeant shot by a masked man Thursday afternoon on Summerfield Avenue in northeast Baltimore.

Sgt. Isaac Carrington was off duty, a 22-year veteran of the BPD, is on life support at Shock Trauma.

According to police, Isaac Carrington was in plain clothes, on his front lawn speaking with a neighbor when a dark vehicle believed to be an Acura pulled up. At least one masked gunman got out of the car and demanded their property.

The neighbor threw whatever belongings he had to the ground and began running away.

Carrington ran in another direction and the gunman gave chase and shot him multiple times. The gunman got back in the car and fled.

Doctors say Carrington is currently in the intensive care unit on life support. He’s expected to have to undergo additional surgeries.
