(Washington, DC) — A federal grand jury in the District has returned a nine-count indictment charging a Temple Hills man with five counts for the interstate trafficking of children for the purpose of prostitution. Forty-two-year-old Shelby Lewis allegedly brought the juveniles into DC to work as prostitutes between 2006 and 2009. He was taken into custody after undercover police arrested two teenaged girls for allegedly soliciting prostitution and investigators learned that Lewis was their pimp. At about the same time, police located a 13-year-old girl reported missing to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and it was determined that Lewis had apparently prostituted her for more than three years. A fourth juvenile victim was also found, who had worked for Lewis for two years since she was only 12. Lewis was arrested in June and was initially was charged under DC law for Pandering of a Juvenile.
