SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA) – Police in Montgomery County are looking for any leads that could help solve an overnight homicide at a Silver Spring apartment complex.

Lt. Paul Starks, spokesperson for Montgomery County Police, tells 9NEWS NOW officers from the 3rd District responded to a report of the sound of gunshots at the Ashford At Woodlake complex in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard around 12:27 Wednesday morning.

Police arriving on scene found the body of a 37-year-old woman who had been fatally struck by at least one gunshot. Lt. Starks says her body was found on a walkway between a parking lot and her apartment building.

Detectives from Montgomery County Police Major Crimes and Homicide Section are investigating the incident. Police knocked on doors in the area hoping to find witnesses.

Montgomery County Police are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to call 240-773-5070. All callers can remain anonymous.
