CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. – A Prince George’s County fire official says hazardous materials crews are on the scene of an explosion at a commercial warehouse in Capitol Heights.

Police officers and firefighters responding to an alarm at the warehouse in the 9200 block of Hampton Overlook around 11:15 p.m. Thursday found a large window and two large rolling overhead doors blown out.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady says hazardous materials in drums outside the building were exposed and released. He says hazardous materials crews are working to identify and stabilize the chemical products.

Brady says the cause of the explosion is under investigation and it is unclear what chemicals were involved.

He says there were no injuries and no evacuations.
