VIA MYFOXDC:

D.C. police swarmed Columbia Heights Saturday night seconds after 9 year old Oscar Fuentes was shot.

Police say the boy was inside his apartment when the gunman fired a shot through the door, striking the boy who was standing behind the door.

Police Chief Cathy Lanier said her officers did detain several people, but no arrests had been made.

On Sunday, Council member Jim Graham spoke to residents who live in the building where Oscar Fuentes was killed.

Although police have not announced a motive, resident believe it is gang related. Several neighbors say the building is a popular hang out for gang members because it is so easy to access through unlocked doors.

Oscar Fuentes was a student at Raymond Elementary School in Northwest.

Family and friends tell FOX 5 a prayer service is being planned for Monday.
