Von Miller To Join Washington Commanders On A 1-Year Deal

Von Miller, the veteran defensive end and Super Bowl 50 MVP, is set to join the Washington Commanders on a one-year deal, according to sources. The move aims to strengthen Washington’s pass rush and provide a seasoned closer for critical defensive moments.
Miller, 36, shared images of himself in a Commanders jersey on Instagram, signaling his excitement for the new chapter. The deal, pending a physical, comes after Miller’s three-season stint with the Buffalo Bills, where he recorded 14 sacks. Washington hopes Miller can replicate his 2021 performance with the Los Angeles Rams, where he was instrumental in their Super Bowl victory, tallying nine sacks across the regular season and playoffs.
A first-round pick by the Denver Broncos in 2011, Miller boasts a Hall of Fame-worthy résumé, including 129.5 career sacks, ranking 16th all-time. His accolades include eight Pro Bowl selections, seven All-Pro honors, and a Super Bowl MVP title. Commanders GM Adam Peters, who was with Denver during Miller’s early years, played a key role in bringing him to Washington.
The Commanders’ pass rush, which ranked 11th in the NFL last season with 43 sacks, struggled in key moments, particularly in the fourth quarter. Miller’s addition addresses this gap, as Washington looks to improve its 30th-ranked fourth-quarter sack total.
Miller’s tenure with the Bills was marred by injuries and off-field issues, including a suspension in 2024. However, the Commanders are betting on his experience and leadership to elevate their defense.
With Miller in the fold, Washington aims to make a deep playoff run, leveraging his proven ability to deliver in high-stakes situations.
