Calvert County authorities are on the lookout for a runaway emu that has been spotted in the Dunkirk area several times since Thanksgiving.  Animal control officers believe that the Emu may have escaped from an area farm and Wednesday they warned area residents not to approach the bird, which has powerful legs and sharp toenails.  Authorities are trying to determine who owns the Emu, in hopes that the person can help them safely capture the bird. Anyone who spots the Emu should call the Animal Control Unit at 410-535-1600, or call 911 if the bird is in the road or the situation is an emergency.
