Four Dead In Helicopter Crash

(Washington County, MD) — Four people have died in a helicopter crash in Washington County. The personal aircraft went down late Thursday evening in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Smithsburg, close to the Frederick County line. Police say as the four-seat helicopter came down, it took down trees and live power lines. The Maryland State Police, State Highway Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are all taking part in the investigation. The eastbound and westbound lanes of I-70 remain closed between Route 66 and Route 17.
