The city of New Orleans announced a $13.3 million settlement stemming from several police brutality cases in the weeks before and after Hurricane Katrina.

Five former New Orleans police officers were sentenced earlier this week after the shooting of six unarmed people -- two of whom died -- on the Danziger Bridge days after Hurricane Katrina, CNN reports.

President Barack Obama is scheduled to visit New Orleans next week to mark 10 years after Hurricane Katrina swept through the city.
