In the town of Fullerto, Calif., gay high school senior Kearian Gertz (pictured) was removed from an annual pageant competition, after expressing pro-gay views on stage in front of the student body, reports CW affiliate KTLA.

Gertz was in the Fullerton High School “Mr. Fullerton Pageant” Tuesday, April 3, night. When asked where he saw himself in 10 years, Gertz said that he hoped gay marriage would become legal, so that he could find a partner and marry without scrutiny from authorities.
“I just want to be able to sit on the couch by the person I love and happily proclaim that we’re married,” Gertz said, repeating what he stated during the pageant competition. “Hopefully 10 years from now, I’ll be able to do that if gay marriage is legal.”
The school’s assistant principal, Joe Abell, then pulled Gertz from the competition and had a few choice words for the senior. “As soon as I came offstage, he said, ‘Why would you say something like that?’ and told me I was disqualified,” Gertz shared later. According to Fullerton High rules, Gertz should not have been disqualified.
